3 ways to get back on tract with your Content Creation routine

If you find yourself experiencing procrastination or simply executive dysfunction – whether it be because of ADHD like me, or other neurodivergent conditions – you could find yourself on a slippery slope.

Person with a serious expression in a dim setting. Text reads: "When I meet an ADHDer who completely has their act together: Is it possible to learn this power?"

A few years ago, I was feeling overwhelmed and my mind decided it didn’t want to do the work that day. I just stopped creating content, and kept telling myself, “I will do it tomorrow” – and I in fact did not do it in the next few days.

This burned through my 2-week advanced content allowance for myself.

BUT I didn't need to stress because I had planned 2 weeks worth of content in advance, so I knew I could just take my time to find my way back to it all!

I know the procrastination and work-block comes out of nowhere… so I’m here to support you with some advice…

Losing your content creation routine can lead to a loss of flow, alignment and time for what really matters…

Which in turn, leads to:

👉 BURNOUT – instead of taking your time and following your own pace, you’re now trying to catch up

👉 CLUMSINESS – because you’re focus is getting more done, you’re now more likely to be careless and make mistakes

👉 PROCRASTINATION – overthinking things, making tasks into a bigger deal than they need to be and falling behind

If, however, you get that moment of sudden urge for content creation, assuming it’ll last 2-3 hours, here’s what you should do.

ON THE FIRST HOUR, SHOOT AS MUCH B-ROLL VIDEO AS YOU CAN.

Here’s a list of ideas of easy poses you can record yourself doing:

☑️ sitting down

☑️ walking down the street or through a hallway

☑️ timelapse

☑️ looking up – left to right

☑️ sipping your favourite drink

☑️ eating/taking a bite of your favourite snack

☑️ getting in/out of a car

☑️ putting on sunglasses

If you run out of energy, you can at least post reels and just add text on the day you need to post. You can reuse these too!

IF YOU HAVE MORE ENERGY AFTER THIS, THEN I WANT YOU TO PLAN YOUR WEEK’S OR MONTH’S STRATEGY.

I will make this very simple and easy:

Step 1: Decide how often you will post & what days

Step 2: Decide what you want to post for each day e.g. education, about you, sales (this will be your strategy)

Ideas for you:

  • Give them tips or a take about a topic you have an opinion on (should be about your industry/niche)

  • Jump on a trend (this could be doing a T!kt0k-type of video or posting a meme you relate to

  • Talk to your audience to encourage them (this could be in the form of a quote you like or your own words)

Step 3: If you still have energy left at this point, here’s what I want you to do:

👉 Actually create the post.

  • Create the image/reel/carousel

  • Write up the captions & hashtags

  • Drop it in a spreadsheet (you can use my FREE scheduler if you wish OR create your own)

This means you will only need to copy and paste everything into Instagram (or whichever platform) on the day you wish to post!

Step 4: Go to Instagram and schedule your posts in advance… you then won’t have to think about posting it, as it automatically posts for you.

ONCE YOU DO THIS REGULARLY – YOU’LL EVENTUALLY HAVE A ROUTINE.

Your posts don’t even have to be perfect – you know why? Because fortunately, Instagram LOVES authenticity at the moment.

Videos of you just talking to the camera? Raw, unedited reels? You can take advantage of this because INSTAGRAM LOVES IT! Isn’t that great?

SO, TO SUMMARISE...

HERE ARE YOUR BEST TIPS TO STAY AHEAD OF YOUR GAME:

👉 shoot as much b-roll video as you can

👉 plan your week’s or month’s strategy.

👉 create the post and add the caption & hashtags

I hope this helped you even just a little bit.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope that you overcome your inner obstacles. And if you ever need help, you know you can send me a message and I’ll be happy to answer all your questions!
